Winter 2020: Tips for a Cozy Quarantine

by Lexis Jackson

As the winter seasons are rolling around it is normal to be more inclined to stay inside in general. And, as it is 2020 we know that it is even more important to practice safe social distancing. This means that we are spending a great amount of time inside, not putting our pants on, under the blankets, and wishing for the day we are able to fully socialize again.

It is likely that you have suddenly realized that your space is now functioning as an office, a school, restaurant, a living space, a bar and more. It is time to make a few changes to cozy up your space and make it into the sanctuary you deserve.

Whether you are feeling more stress at this time or you just need to add a bit of change and functionality to your space, here are a few easy tips and tricks (that won’t break the bank) to get you through these uncertain times.

1. Working/School from Home

It’s the new cool thing to do.

It is time to take that little corner and set up an organized area. When you spend a lot of time working from home, you need to have separated space. This will aid to more productivity and also cut clear distinctions between working hours and relaxing hours.

2. Greenery

Throw in a bit of life!

Being in quarantine especially inside a flat, dreaming of the outdoors, can make you feel very trapped. So why not bring the outdoors inside to you? This is the year of the plants and there are so many ways to incorporate them into any home.

As proven, nature has a great way of reducing our stress while improving and purifying the air quality inside our homes.

3. Accent you’re space

Because lockdown is all about DYI’ing, right?

Add some art! What is really popular right now is the gallery walls. Encompassing a cheerful vibe through calming colors plus art can really lift the mood of a space.

4. Put Up String Lights

They look cool and give you extra glow during Teams calls.

Even though Christmas is around the corner string lights can be used for all times of the year and they are a quick way to create a great ambience. The coziness of the tiny lights all around the space will give you that glow to make you want to unwind with a glass of wine.

4. Invest in Cozy Home Clothing

Make jeans a thing of the past.

Like I said… sometimes we forget to wear pants. Let’s be real when you are in quarantine you don’t want to be sitting around in jeans or a skirt. I like to stay comfortable to make that smooth transition from desk chair to couch. My favorite this season is a comfy robe and slippers!
